Visits

We managed to get a break in the weather for our first outing of the year, to ‘Dippers’ at Shaugh Prior. We were treated to a fine display of snowdrops and hellebores and, after a circuit of Stella and Rob’s wildlife area, adjourned to the White Thorn Inn for coffee.

For our second outing we were hosted by David Carver who showed us round Buckland Cottage Garden Nursery. Fortunately most of the time we were under cover because it was a cold afternoon. There was plenty to see; David is interested in a wide range of plants, cyclamen, narcissi and daphnes, to name but a few. He has taken on existing collections and is working to generate new varieties. We finished the visit with a cup of tea and some cake, freshly baked by David that morning.
